Poison Control: 1-800-222-1222
You should always keep the poison control number in your phone. If you don’t know the number, here it is: 1-800-222-1222 (pretty easy to remember) I also recommend you have your local police station and fire department in your phone as well. In the event you or your child swallow something you shouldn’t, be sure to call the poison control. Some chemicals should not be vomited because it can cause more problems by causing the airway to swell and then you have a poisoned child that can’t breath. In the event you call the poison control and they tell you to go to the emergency department then go right away.
But while you are on the phone with them, now is a perfect time to make some toast. Seriously, put some bread in the toaster and let it burn really good. Feed the burnt toast to the child, the chard part of the toast will actually bind with the poison and it won’t be absorbed into the blood stream. You can also use charcoal from burnt wood but toast is a little more palatable. When I say BURNT I don't mean "Mom you burnt my toast!" Burnt I mean BURNT! Open the windows it's smoky in here BURNT!
